About the Artist

My name is Hannah Morris, and I am a product design major in CU's Environmental Design program. My interest in digital art began when I was in high school, when I began to find interest in video games and animation. The way digital art can tell compelling stories and convey specific emotions and feelings is my main inspiration for making digital art. I have taken art classes in high school, however, I have not taken any other type of formal art class since then. Nonetheless, most of my school work deals with design principles and programs, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as 3d modeling programs. In my regular major, I often render photos and come up with new designs for products and places. I like to make art not only because it is calming, but also because I like being able to visually track my improvement over time. My main medium is digital art through the Procreate or Clip Studio Paint apps. I would like to make compelling storytelling art in the future, where every part of the design is purposeful and thoughtful.

I'm very inspired by other people's artworks, specifically ones that focus on environment. I like seeing how artists can convey mood and atmosphere through colors, light, shadow, and form. For example, I really appreciate the watercolor and digital artist, Mateusz Urbanowicz and his use of color to make a specific mood and atmosphere with colors and composition.

I also like doing studies of certain objects or people when drawing. Because of my interest in the environment and how things look in certain atmospheres, I have been studying and drawing flowers, their meanings, and how I can portray the meanings of said flowers. I wish to explore more specific parts of environments and focus on how I can convey their meaning whilst also bringing my own purpose into art.
